Japan's only remaining Tatara Iron-making facility .
Tatara refers to the traditional iron-making method that uses iron sand and charcoal.
Sannai means the village where the craftmen's workplace and residence located.
Japanese swords are made by Tatara and here is the only place remaining in Japan and the building is preserved.
Tatara method teaches the technology of iron-making to all over Japan.
It is registered as an important tangible folk cultural asset of the country and designated as Japanese heritage.
This area was used for the model for the setting of the movies Princess Mononoke and Tatara Samurai.
